Planning consent has just been granted for a replacement dwelling at a beautiful rural location near Pulborough. The brief was to provide a modest sized family dwelling to sit unobtrusively within its setting. The ground floor domestic area is arranged upon simple symmetrical lines with a central entrance hall; a kitchen/dining room situated to the West to capture the evening light and the living room to the East – with a North/South orientation. The intention is to source materials; products and labour as locally as possible which will not only reinforce the sense of vernacular styling but capitalize on local skilled crafts people and the supply of readily available sustainable building materials thus reducing the carbon emission rate during the building process.
