Sussex Heritage Trust Awards 2018

VHA was delighted to achieve a prestigious Highly Commended Award from the Sussex Heritage Trust on Wednesday 4th July. Victoria Holland and Windlesham House’s Headmaster, Richard Foster, were presented with a certificate by Lord Egremont DL at a ceremony which was held at Pangdeam Barns. The judges commented that the new state-of-the-art sports complex was “sensitively designed pool and sports facility in a treasured and historic site.  Child friendly design for the most part, which enhanced the project.”

CHESTNUT TREE HOUSE

15th Anniversary Celebration

We are proud to be continuing our professional involvement with Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice. The hospice is this year celebrating 15 years of supporting and caring for children with life limiting illnesses. We were privileged to have been commissioned to design the purpose built hospice which was officially opened in 2003 by HRH Princess Alexandra and over the years proud that the building and its grounds have matured with the landscape as well as having been so lovingly maintained.

PLANNING NOTICE

Renovation and Extension

Planning consent has just been granted by South Downs National Park Authority for rear and side extensions to an existing property in Fulking. Several extensions and alterations have been made during the life span of the building. The proposed works are intended to unify the existing elevations on all sides in terms of appearance and symmetry. Internally the layout is to be re-ordered to accommodate the family requirements. All alterations are to be carried out with respect to the scale of the existing building and a vernacular style which respects the typical styling of the Sussex Weald.

Architect/Experienced Assistant

Due to high workload, Victoria Holland Architecture is looking for a qualified Architect and an Architectural Assistant to join its team in West Sussex. We are seeking professionals to work on projects from inception through to completion including planning and building control applications to local authorities and the production of working drawings. The ideal candidate will havean in-depth working knowledge of AutoCAD/Adobe Suite/SketchUp, a high level of initiative, proactivity, communication and organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure and licensed car owner preferred. SPORTS HALL OPEN

Up and running!

Windlesham House School’s new Sports Hall is now complete and up and running! The project was completed under a JCT Design & Build Contract by Kier Construction Southern for a contract value of £7.375 million. The consultancy team was as follows. Architecture: Victoria Holland Architecture + Saunders Architects. Structural & Civil Engineering: Elliott Wood. M & E Consultants: E3CE. Quantity Surveying: Burke Hunter Adams. Project Management: Ashfold. The Grand Opening is to be held on 22nd March 2018 and undertaken by Mark Foster – five times Olympian.

PLANNING CONSENT

Planning Permission for an Extension and a Gardener’s Store

Victoria Holland Architecture has just been granted a Planning Consent for a new bedroom wing extension at Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice,  in West Sussex. The new bedroom wing will accommodate four new bedrooms plus one dedicated baby room, bathrooms, a storage room, office space and meeting rooms. The intention is to create a comfortable and homelike environment, where terminally ill and disabled children can be cared for and their parents can relax, using traditional forms which sit sympathetically within the rural landscape.

LISTED BUILDING CONSENT

Listed Building Consent in the National Park

Victoria Holland Architecture has now been awarded Planning Permission & Listed Building Consent for alterations to a Grade II Listed Dwelling in Wepham, a flint cottage in a Sussex village. The approval is for internal notifications to enlarge and renovate the existing kitchen and to rebuild the existing wood store and extend it to the rear to form a home office. The proposal will provide for a more functional internal arrangement with an extension designed to harmonize with the existing cottage.

Listed Building Consent for an Extension to an Existing Town House

Planning & Listed Building Consent has just been granted by Arun District Council for an extension to a Grade II Listed Building in Arundel. The works include for an en-suite shower room at first floor level.  The proposal will improve the usage of the dwelling, whilst respecting the historic fabric of the building.

Planning Permission for an Extension to an Existing Village Dwelling

Planning consent has just been granted by Chichester District Council for a rear extension to an existing property in Fittleworth. The property, which is the original Fittleworth school house dating from the early 1800’s. is a non-designated heritage asset. The intention is to renovate the property throughout, restore the original joinery and replace an existing uPVC extension with one of timber joinery and brickwork. The proposal will improve the plan layout on both floors, allow for more natural light to enter the house and an improved relationship with the garden.

Chichester District Council award Planning Permission for a Replacement Dwelling

Planning consent has just been granted for demolition of an existing dwelling on Spinney Lane, Itchenor near Chichester and the construction of a new family house with replacement outdoor swimming pool, changing facilities, terrace and garage. The replacement house will maintain the same orientation as the existing dwelling and take into account views across the harbour.  The emphasis will be on sustainability and energy efficiency with a building which responds sympathetically to the local vernacular.
